Ages Preschool and up

A beautifully illustrated picture book with a heartwarming story. When Aiden was born everybody assumed he was a girl but the typical “girls things” his parents gave him, like a pretty name, a frilly bedroom and clothes that girls might like to wear, never felt right to him. With the support of his parents he is able to settle into a much more comfortable life as a transgender boy. When Aiden’s parents tell him that they are having a baby Aiden is excited to become a big brother. He wants the baby to feel understood right away and helps his parents prepare for the baby’s arrival. As the day gets closer he worries that they haven’t chosen the correct things for the baby. What if they’ve gotten everything wrong like it had been for him at the beginning? His parents help him to understand that mistakes may be made, as they had been with him, but things can always be fixed. The most important job as a big brother is to love the baby and that he already knows how to do.
